Linda's run in the Mid Sussex Champion of Champions competition has come to an end - but what a great effort she made.

Having progressed against Caren Stoffberg, of Southgate Park, in the first round, Linda came up against the formidable John Truran, who is the current Lindfield men's champion.

And they enjoyed an enthralling contest at Beech Hurst, John eventually emerging the winner 21-16.

But Linda pushed him all the way, with some memorable bowls, including a superb shot between two of the three holding shots John required to win the match one end earlier.

John held off her determined challenge - Linda was never more than five behind and actually led 10-9 after 10 ends - but knew he had been in a game by the time they came off the green two hours - and 23 ends - after walking on to it.

It was a pleasure to mark their match - and Linda did herself - and the club - proud.
