Nicola Coles and Graham Barton brought our competitive season to an end with their second titles of the summer, winning the Terry Gasson Trophy by a massive margin.

Nicola, who was part of the Carrow Cup-winning trio a few weeks ago, and Graham, who helped win the David Johns Trophy back in May, won all four of their matches in the Australian pairs tournament, amassing 31 points and conceding only three.

Neville and Elsie came a distant second, winning two and drawing one of their four games, and Ken and Bob were third.

The winners won their first game – against Tony and Jennie – 11-0 and their second – against Doug and Graham Aldis – 9-2 before easing up(!) with victories of 4-1 and 7-0.

Neville and Elsie also started well, not dropping a point in their first two matches. But an inspired performance by Bob and Ken inflicted their only defeat and their second encounter with Judy and Mark Howell ended in a 3-3 draw.

Highest match score was by John Box and Stephen, who saved their best to last. Having lost their first three matches, they beat Doug and Graham 12-1.
