The line-up for the Ladies’ Championship final is now known – Marge, who has been waiting for weeks to discover her opponent, will play Anne Bosman, who reached her fifth Ladies’ singles final by beating Sheila Fletcher.

Anne saw off Sheila’s initial bright start to their semi-final, moving swiftly from 4-4 to 21-4.

Anne has won the title three times – most recently in 2022 - and been runner-up once.

Marge became the first person to reach one of this year’s finals several weeks ago when she beat Annie McGee in the Ladies’ Championship.

Stephen and I are also in a final - the Drawn Pairs, after a close shave against Nicola and Clive.

After a neck-and-neck first seven ends, Nicola and Clive pulled ahead and were 14-7 up after 11 of the 18.

But Stephen and I won 10 points in the last seven ends – to scrape home by two shots.

We face the winners of the semi-final between Tony Jarvis and Doug and Marge Breading and Mark Gooch on finals weekend.

27 ends

Peter Huntley and Mark Howell fought out a duel for the ages in their John Martin Shield quarter-final, which ran to 27 ends before Mark scored the points that clinched a 22-19 victory.

Peter was back on the green the following night, going down 21-16 to Rowland in the Handicap, despite a three-point starting advantage.

Rowland had squeezed into the quarter-final courtesy of a 21-19 win over Judy.

Clive is also through to the semi-finals after defeating reigning champion John Box 21-11, with a starting advantage of eight. He will face Bill Mann, who beat Stephen, despite a three-point starting deficit.

In what is proving a magnificent season for Clive, he is also in the semi-finals of the Men’s Championship, where he faces me, and the quarter-finals of the Veterans’ two-woods competition.

The Veterans’ title is also held by John Box, and while he may be out of the Handicap, he still has a chance of retaining the former. He faces Basil in the second round, having had a bye in the first.

Linda is also through to round two, having defeated Marge 18-12. She will play Tony Ashby.

I’m also through after a nerve-wracking win over Rowland, who turned around a 1-10 deficit to lead 17-16 before I reached the 18 points required on the 28th end.

It proved to be a mixed couple of weeks for Stephen, who as well as reaching the Drawn Pairs final and losing in the Handicap, surrendered a big lead against Graham Aldis in the John Martin Shield.

Graham’s reward is to play Mark Howell in the semi-final, while Bob Sutton will play Bill.

Bob, who has also had an excellent season, was denied a place in another semi-final after losing to Tony Jarvis in the Men’s Championship. Tony will play Peter, who got revenge for his John Martin Shield defeat by pipping Mark Howell 21-20.

All results and remaining draws are available via the Club Competitions link at the top of the page.
